Changi Airport's passenger traffic in January up 0.9%

[SINGAPORE] Passenger traffic at Changi Airport stood at 5.3 million in January, a 0.9 per cent increase from the same time period last year, said Changi Airport Group in a statement on Monday morning.
Aircraft movements during the period rose by 2.8 per cent to 32,490 landings and take-offs, while air cargo volumes grew by nearly 11 per cent to 175,590 tonnes.
Among the airport's top 10 country markets, Japan saw the most growth at 11 per cent. India and Thailand came in next, with 9 per cent growth each."Major city routes that recorded strong traffic growth of at least 8 per cent included Bangkok, Chennai and London," added Changi Airport Group in its statement.
More than 7,200 flights are scheduled at Changi Airport weekly, meaning that an aircraft takes off or lands roughly once every 80 seconds.
