China exposure: MAS seeks data from banks
Lenders told to submit by Aug 6 info on their exposure to China firms, amid worries over commodity financing fraud
THE Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) has asked banks here for information on their exposure to China companies, including those based offshore, as worries over commodity financing fraud persist.
"They are querying banks on our exposure to these companies," said a source from a local bank yesterday.
MAS wants information on banks' trade finance and commodity finance business, the source said.
