China Sunsine rectifies issues raised by environmental inspectors
CHINA Sunsine Chemical Holdings' Shandong Sunsine subsidiary has rectified one of a number of issues raised by a recent environmental inspection by authorities and will continue to mitigate or rectify other highlighted weaknesses in due course, the group said late on Thursday.
China Sunsine, which makes speciality chemicals for the tyre industry, said that it has installed online monitoring equipment at a chimney used in the recycling of sulphur at Shandong Sunsine, and that the chimney is now operational.
An inspection team from China's Ministry of Environmental Protection had visited Shandong Sunsine on May 20 and found a number issues. Besides the chimney, other issues raised included an oil furnace for which protective equipment and controls were not properly set up, as well as site management issues.
