Citi sees opportunities amid market volatility
Bank says it is looking to use technology to differentiate its offerings and get closer to customers.
MARKETS have been roiled by an upsurge in volatility in the second half of this year and Han Kwee Juan, Citibank Singapore's CEO, expects the trend to continue at least until the end of this year.
The main drivers of this volatility are economic uncertainty in China, diverging global monetary policy and the ageing global equity bull market. Individual clients as well as corporates will be more cautious when considering investment opportunities.
Mr Han adds that credit uptake typically slows during periods of sluggish economic growth and equity market draw-downs. "Prudent growth, effective risk management, and a keen focus on the bottom line will, therefore, be critical to successfully navigating in the period ahead."
