AS THE contest to secure a huge Australian government contract to build the country's next-generation submarine fleet heats up among Japan, Germany and France, mainboard-listed heavy engineering firm Civmec said on Friday that it is gunning for a piece of the action.
Civmec said in a Singapore Exchange filing that it has launched a new defence division and aims to work with the lead contractor appointed to design and build Australia's future submarine - a project worth up to A$50 billion.
