Del Monte Pacific completes US purchase

DEL Monte Pacific has completed its US$1.7 billion purchase of the consumer food business from Del Monte Corporation in the US that was first announced last October.

The US consumer food business, which will be renamed Del Monte Foods, will provide Del Monte Pacific a 26 per cent market share in the US canned fruit market, and also longer term opportunities in South America, said Del Monte Pacific's chairman Rolando Gapud.
