Celebrating women
Singapore
THE Fullerton Celebrates Women Campaign, held every March in conjunction with International Women's Day, marks the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
To honour the extraordinary roles that women embody, The Fullerton Heritage partners the Singapore Council of Women's Organisation (SCWO) each year to organise events.
In 2015, for instance, it co-organised the Singapore Women Pioneers' Heritage Walk - an initiative that went on to generate a greater interest in giving back to the female community. The walk included a historical exhibition, where guests got an introduction to the inspiring Singaporean pioneers and trailblazers from various sectors who have been inducted into the SCWO Hall of Fame.
The SCWO serves as a federation for women's organisations, and seeks to empower and promote equality for women.
To support the SCWO's work, The Fullerton Heritage has helped to raise funds for marginalised women. Through the sale of an exclusive afternoon tea set, as well as a limited edition plush bear, about S$15,000 was raised for the SCWO Service Fund in 2015, with a further S$6,700 raised in 2016.
Said Cavaliere Giovanni Viterale, general manager, The Fullerton Heritage: "The Fullerton Heritage is honoured to have the opportunity to play the role of advocate in raising awareness for women's causes. Such campaigns make us acutely aware that there is so much more we can do to empower them, value their contributions and celebrate their achievements."
By planning activities that are exciting for staff and patrons to engage in, the resulting activities have been able to raise awareness and funds, as well as increase new clientele to the hotel. It seems that the gift of giving gives back.
