A S$180 million contract for the renewal and modernisation of the communications system for Singapore's MRT and LRT lines has been awarded to a consortium of Singapore Technologies (ST) Engineering and transport solutions company Siemens Mobility.
The renewal programme will see a replacement and upgrade of existing communications systems on the North South and East West Lines, as well as the selected stations along the Bukit Panjang LRT line - the first of its scale since the lines commenced operations more than 20 years ago, the companies announced in a joint press statement on Thursday.
