5 electronics manufacturers fined record S$19.5m for price fixing

    FIVE electronics manufacturers which engaged in price fixing and other cartel activity were fined a total of S$19.5 million on Friday, the highest issued by the Competition Commission of Singapore (CCS).

    The firms had discussed and agreed on the prices of aluminium electrolytic capacitors (AECs) sold in South-east Asia, including Singapore. AECs are electrical components used in devices such as computers and home appliances.
