AMAZON expects to create hundreds of jobs in Singapore over the next three years, across managerial, technical and operational roles, according to S Iswaran, Minister for Trade and Industry (Industry). He was speaking on Thursday at the launch of Amazon.com's Prime Now service, which offers two-hour delivery of tens of thousands of items which can be ordered via a mobile app.
Mr Iswaran said that through the use of new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), and innovative concepts such as random stow systems and on-demand delivery scheduling, "Amazon expects to achieve significant gains in labour productivity and infrastructure utilisation, as well as near real-time delivery of goods in cities".
