Cardboard boxes to get pricier as prices of brown paper shoot up

Lower recycling rates, reduced manpower and lockdowns in producing countries and higher demand from China among reasons for supply crunch

    CARDBOARD box prices are set to rise in the coming months, as manufacturers find themselves paying more to secure brown grade paper.

    Made from virgin fibre or recycled material, the paper is the primary component in corrugated cardboard, and prices of the material have gone up by as much as 20-40 per cent in the last quarter, industry players including brown paper dealers and box manufacturers told The Business Times.
