AMID an estimated dip in tourist numbers last year, retail sales were flat at Changi Airport for 2014, totalling around S$2 billion for the year. This was about the same as a year ago. Two years ago, in 2012, the number was S$1.8 billion. Singaporeans accounted for 20 per cent of sales, unchanged from a year ago.
Shoppers bought cosmetics and perfumes, liquor and tobacco, and luxury goods among others. The top five markets remained China, Singapore, Indonesia, India and Australia.
