[WASHINGTON] Consumer confidence in the US increased this month as declining unemployment and lower fuel costs lifted Americans' outlooks.
The Conference Board's consumer confidence index rose to 102.9 from a revised December reading of 93.1, the New York- based private research group said on Tuesday. The latest figure was higher than the 95.5 median estimate in a Bloomberg survey of 77 economists.
