Ikea extends furniture recall to China after criticism
Beijing
BOWING to two weeks of rising public pressure in China, Swedish furniture maker Ikea said on Tuesday that it would extend its recent recall to a country where so far it has enjoyed a strong reputation.
The move marks the latest sign of the growing power of the Chinese consumer, whose spending has fattened the bottom line of foreign and domestic companies alike, but who has also shown a desire for safety and quality.
