[TOKYO] Mitsubishi Chemical Holdings Corp will invest 20 billion yen (S$249.66 million) over the next five years to increase the production capacity of drug capsules by 70 per cent, the Nikkei reported, without citing anyone.

Mitsubishi Chemical will increase the number of production lines in the US, Europe and Japan, according to the newspaper.

The company will boost its lineup of plant-based drug capsules to meet demand from customers in the Middle East, where pork-based gelatin products face resistance on religious grounds, the newspaper said.
