A FRENCH Bulldog would have cost S$8,800 to S$9,000 in 2018 or 2019. These days, they retail at pet store Friends Fur Life for up to S$10,000.
Director Kenny Low said the increase in the cost of this imported breed is due in part to higher air freight costs as well as other input costs.
But the higher prices haven't deterred buyers. Friends Fur Life has seen a boom in demand for pets during the pandemic. Mr Low said his store has only raised its prices slightly as it did not want to "take advantage" of its customers in the pandemic.
