Shoppers' Xmas budgets bigger this year despite expectations of weaker 2016
Increase shows that consumers still place importance on gift-giving at this time and on celebrating relationships

SHOPPERS in Singapore are likely to spend more this year on their Christmas gifts despite the cautious economic outlook.
According to a survey commissioned by United Overseas Bank (UOB), consumers here have a budget of S$769 for their festive shopping, which is 8 per cent higher than what they shelled out in 2014 (S$708).
