Workers vote in favour of first union at company-owned US Starbucks

    [BUFFALO] Workers at a Starbucks cafe in Buffalo, New York voted to establish the first union at one of the coffee chain's company-owned shops in the United States, according to election results released on Thursday.

    A majority of staff at the company's Elmwood Avenue cafe in northern New York near the Canadian border voted in favour of the union, according to online results posted by the National Labor Relations Board. Workers at two other Buffalo Starbucks stores also are considering unionising.
