Correction
In our article (Aug 22), we had said that Lee Kim Tah (LKT) is planning to file criminal complaints as it could not reach a consensus with joint venture (JV) partner Woh Hup. That statement is incorrect.
L&W Construction (L&W) is a subsidiary of the joint venture company.
Woh Hup was informed by CapitaLand of a past incident in 2023 involving its former employees in India and that CapitaLand had promptly investigated the matter and reported the case to the relevant police authorities at the time.
Woh Hup said it immediately decided then that it was important to conduct a forensic audit.
In August 2023, the joint venture company appointed independent and professional advisors – comprising forensic audit experts as well as Singapore and Indian lawyers – to conduct the audit and advise on the findings, said Woh Hup. A leading Singapore law firm was also engaged to oversee the audit and provide advice.
The first phase of the audit was conducted between August and December 2023, with further work done in 2024 and early 2025. These investigations were overseen by lawyers.

During the audit, the advisors had recommended placing L&W’s managing director Asaithambi Manickam on paid leave. That was done on Jan 28, 2025.
The lawyers issued the draft of the investigation report and advice on 22 August 2025.
The advice and the next steps are being discussed by the joint venture company.
We regret the said statement.
