Counting on OCBC to bring the Smiles

AS part of an after-school care programme for children with special needs, 20 staff volunteers from OCBC Bank's group human resources division did their part for charity yesterday. They played host to 20 special needs children from the Asian Women's Welfare Association (AWWA) Smiles programme, teaching them how to identify different coin denominations.

The children also tried their hand at a simple coin matching game to use the correct amount to 'buy' biscuits; and made Christmas cards as well. Among the OCBC Bank volunteers is Cassandra Cheng, head of learning & development.

The event - which took place at the bank's $60 million regional training hub known as the OCBC Campus - was the division's second initiative organised for AWWA Smiles this year. In July, about 30 OCBC Bank interns spent an afternoon with AWWA Smiles kids, engaging them in simple activities such as colouring and puzzle making.
