Covid-19 market turmoil: Is the worst over?
After recent rebound, with a tough road ahead and things likely to get worse before they get better, some "market timers" might want to sell
THIS past week, I lowered my exposure to US stocks by redeeming some units in a fund. The steep rise in the market from its March lows, even as corporate profitability is worsening, seemed too good an opportunity to pass up.
As the transaction was executed, It occurred to me that financial advisers often warn against exactly these sorts of "market timing" moves.
It made me second-guess my motives: Am I surrendering to my emotions after a traumatic ride in the market? Have I been reading too many negative news headlines? Will I regret throwing in the towel just when economies around the world are trying to re-open?
