Creative subsidiary files patent infringement lawsuit against Nvidia in the US
CREATIVE Technology's wholly owned subsidiary, ZiiLabs, has filed a patent infringement lawsuit in the United States against tech company Nvidia Corporation, according to an announcement on Tuesday.
ZiiLabs Inc's patent portfolio includes patents in the graphics, processor and 3D spaces. Four of these patents have been asserted in the lawsuit, in which ZiiLabs is claiming damages for.
Creative had previously won legal tussles against Apple Inc. In 2005, the group secured a US$100 million settlement with the iPhone giant over patent infringement claims, and in 2015, ZiiLabs won another case alleging that Apple products had infringed 10 of its patents. As part of the settlement, Apple had to obtain a licence for ZiiLabs' patents.
Creative closed 3.04 per cent higher to S$1.185 a share on Monday.
