Creepy calm trading in run-up to Halloween
ST Index drifts on Tuesday as Wall Street's sombre showing the day before gives no inspiration

THE local bourse has seen creepily quiet trading in the first two days of this week - not of the creepy-clown kind in the United States in the run-up to Halloween, but unnerving nevertheless.
The benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) drifted most of Tuesday to mark its second straight day of gains, putting on 13.56 points or 0.5 per cent at 2,830.63. Thin trading volume of 1.6 billion shares worth S$902 million for the day underscored the beguiling calm.
The STI has lost 1.81 per cent so far this year.
