DARCO Water Technologies has entered into a memorandum of understanding with Aquaporin Asia to pilot and testbed an industrial wastewater treatment system.
The three-year project is funded by a S$2.5 million grant from the Singapore National Research Foundation.
The project will use a zero liquid discharge system based on Aquaporin's forward osmosis technology and will consume less energy than more conventional set-ups.
Darco said that it hopes to gain knowhow on zero liquid discharge operations and applications through the collaboration.
Aquaporin is a joint venture between 80 per cent shareholder Danish clean technology company Aquaporin A/S, Nanyang Technological University Ventures and DHI Water & Environment.
