Del Monte Pacific in US$1.7b acquisition

DEL Monte Pacific - which is dual-listed in Singapore and the Philippines - is acquiring the consumer food business of privately-owned Del Monte Foods of the US for close to US$1.7 billion.
The Philippines-based processed products group said yesterday that it has, through a new subsidiary, signed a definitive agreement for the acquisition.
