MAGNUS Bocker, chief executive of the Singapore Exchange (SGX), along with several well-known Singaporean private business leaders, were revealed yesterday to be key advisers to the Diversity Task Force (DTF) in leading the charge towards greater gender diversity on boards and in senior management.

The advisory panel to the DTF is chaired by JY Pillay, chairman of Tiger Airways Holdings and chairman of the Council of Presidential Advisers. Other members include: Chua Sock Koong, group CEO and board director of SingTel; Olivia Lum, executive chairwoman and group CEO of Hyflux Ltd; and Euleen Goh, chairwoman of the Singapore International Foundation and non-executive director of DBS Group Holdings, CapitaLand Ltd and SATS Ltd.

The panel said: "Boards in Singapore may have a good mix of skill sets and experience, but gender diversity is clearly lacking. Decisions made in boardrooms should reflect the realities of the marketplace if they hope to keep their competitive edge. We hope that when the DTF report is launched, boards will have a greater awareness of the benefits of gender diversity and take necessary actions to change the status quo."
