Drop in SIA's passenger load factor in December
Singapore Airlines' systemwide passenger carriage (measured in revenue passenger kilometres) fell 0.8 per cent in December 2014 from a year ago, with capacity remaining flat with a 0.1 per cent increase.
The passenger load factor also slumped 0.7 percentage points to 81.8 per cent.
SilkAir's systemwide passenger carriage grew 8.4 per cent year-on-year, while its capacity jumped 7.3 per cent. Consequently, its passenger load factor inched up by 0.7 percentage points to 75 per cent.
"The operating environment continues to be competitive and challenging. Capacity will be adjusted accordingly to better match market demand and promotional activities will continue in relevant markets," Singapore Airlines said in a statement.
