36 global agri-businesses team up to tackle challenges
Singapore
THREE dozen of the world's largest global agri-businesses have come together to jointly tackle major environmental and social challenges in agricultural supply chains, even as an industry leader has warned of the food and agriculture sector becoming a potential geopolitical flashpoint like oil.
Called the Global Agri-business Alliance (GAA), the grouping launched in Singapore on Thursday brings together upstream agriculture companies - such as producers, traders, agro-chemicals and seed suppliers - which are deemed to have the greatest influence on the stewardship of natural resources and rural communities.
