Agrocorp unit opens rice mill in Myanmar

AGRASTAR, an associate company of privately owned Agrocorp International, on Friday opened a parboiled rice production and export facility in Myanmar.

The 250-tonne-a-day plant in Dedaye township in Ayeyarwaddy region can process 75,000 tonnes of paddy annually, and produce high quality parboiled, brown and white rice.

Agrastar plans to double the size of the mill by the end of next year, and eventually expand to other sites in the delta to increase production capacity.

Agrastar is a partnership between local food and beverage firm Chin Corp Myanmar, Singapore agri-trading and processing firm Agrocorp International and private firm RiverWest Capital. It was formed to supply high-quality agri-commodities from Myanmar to the global markets, especially Europe.
