THE consumer demand for gold in Singapore came up to 2 tonnes in the third quarter of 2021, down 18 per cent compared to the same quarter last year.

This was driven by several factors including the weight of gold jewellery purchased by Singapore consumers, which was 1 tonne, a 14 per cent decrease year on year, the World Gold Council (WGC) said in its latest Gold Demand Trends report.
