Electricity retailer Geneco appoints new CEO

ELECTRICITY retailer Geneco on March 1 appointed Lim Han Kwang as chief executive officer (CEO), the company said on Thursday.
He was also appointed group head (retail, regulation and renewables) of YTL PowerSeraya, Geneco's parent company.
Before taking up his new roles, he was group head of strategy and risk at YTL PowerSeraya. He also had a previous stint as vice-president, retail and regulation, at Sembcorp Power.
The veteran has more than 18 years of commercial and regulatory experience in the Singapore electricity and gas market.
Mr Lim takes over from Low Boon Tong, who has taken on the new role of chief operating officer (commercial) at YTL PowerSeraya.
John Ng, CEO of YTL PowerSeraya, said Mr Lim "will seek to accelerate the group's green ambition by driving a steady energy transition towards more sustainable energy solutions" while "keeping a pulse on consumer behaviour and consumption patterns".

According to Energy Market Authority statistics, as at Oct 31, 2020, Geneco has the second largest share of residential customers among Open Electricity Market retailers in Singapore.
It has a 21 per cent share while Keppel Electric, with 23 per cent, has the largest share.
