Global coffee exports rise 9.5% in August: ICO

[LONDON] Global coffee exports rose 9.5 per cent in August from the same month last year to total 9.76 million 60kg bags, the International Coffee Organization (ICO) said on Friday.
For the first 11 months of the 2015/16 season, which began on Oct. 1 last year, coffee exports were down 1 per cent at 102.75 million bags.
Robusta coffee exports in August were down 2.4 per cent year on year at 3.41 million bags.
Cumulative robusta exports for the season to date dropped by 7.7 per cent to 37.43 million bags.
Arabica coffee exports in August were 17.3 per cent higher than in the same month last year at 6.35 million bags.
Cumulative arabica exports for the season to date rose 3.4 per cent to 65.33 million bags.
