ELECTRICITY bills will likely be lower next year, particularly between Jan 1 and Mar 31. Electricity tariffs will fall by an average 0.79 Singapore cent per kilowatt-hour (kWh), or 2.7 per cent, compared with the previous quarter.

Singapore’s power grid vendor SP Group on Friday (Dec 30) attributed the price revisions to lower energy costs compared with the last quarter.

For households, the electricity tariff before goods and services tax (GST) will decrease from 29.74 cents to 28.95 cents per kWh for the first quarter. This means the average monthly electricity bill for families living in HDB four-room flats will decrease by S$2.63, before GST, said SP Group.

The company said it reviews the electricity tariffs every quarter based on guidelines set by the electricity industry regulator, Energy Market Authority.
