THE Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) has awarded a third liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunker supplier licence to Total Marine Fuels for a five-year term starting Jan 1, 2022.
In its statement on Monday, Total said the licence awarded to its worldwide bunkering activities unit reaffirms its commitment to contribute to Singapore's ambition in becoming a key LNG bunkering hub for Asia.
Also, it has committed to developing an LNG bunker supply chain in the port of Singapore under an earlier 10-year agreement.
Alexis Vovk, Total's president for marketing and services, said: "Total will continue to step up investments to bring greater value of our integrated natural gas supply chain to customers serving this important region, ultimately contributing to our target of serving more than 10 per cent of the global LNG bunker market."
The MPA launched a request-for-proposal last year, in which interested parties were required to offer an end-to-end LNG bunkering solution, includng details about its LNG supply and delivery model, LNG sources and the marketing plan for the sale of LNG bunkers.
FueLNG and Pavilion Energy Singapore were named as the two licensed LNG bunker suppliers in the Singapore port in the request for proposal.
