THE defence counsel for former oil tycoon Lim Oon Kuin on Wednesday (Jun 7) accused a witness from Unipec Singapore of lying on the stand and raising “material inconsistencies” between the witness’ court testimony and an earlier statement given to the Singapore police.
The testy exchange in the State Court centred on whether Lim, boss of the failed Hin Leong Trading (HLT) group, involved himself in the “nitty-gritty” of trade deals.
Senior Counsel Davinder Singh of Davinder Singh Chambers, acting for Lim, said to Unipec Singapore’s deputy general manager Peter Li Yue: “I am going to suggest to you that you have lied in this court about ... the kind of terms you discussed with Mr Lim.”
