THE head of Indonesia's new Peatland Restoration Agency has suggested that Singapore companies can lend a hand in the agency's work by investing in agriculture suited for such lands and creating a market for these crops.
Agency chief Nazir Foead told a sustainability conference in Singapore on Friday that the agency plans to raise the water level in Indonesia's damaged peatlands; it also aims to improve the livelihood of farmers living in these areas by looking into growing crops that can thrive in such soils.
