THE UK should review its decision to ban onshore wind subsidies, a move that could cost Scotland as much as £3 billion (S$5.4 billion) and torpedo its clean energy targets, lawmakers said.
The Scottish government's views were not considered when former prime minister David Cameron's Conservative government said that it would end new subsidies for the technology, according to a report issued on Monday by the House of Commons Scottish Affairs Committee. Scotland currently hosts about 60 per cent of the UK's onshore wind capacity.
