Ex-OCBC deputy president Ching Wei Hong to join Mapletree Logistics Trust's board
CHING Wei Hong, former deputy president of OCBC, will join the board of Mapletree Logistics Trust (MLT) as an independent non-executive director and a member of the trust's audit and risk committee with effect from Apr 1.
Prior to his retirement last year, the 62-year-old held various positions in the local banking space. Notably, Ching's most recent position at OCBC was deputy president, and he had joined the bank in November 1999.
In 2012, Ching was also appointed chairman of Bank of Singapore. His other positions prior to retirement included chairman of OCBC Securities and vice-chairman of Lion Global Investors.
MLT also announced that Wee Siew Kim will retire from his position as an independent non-executive director and a member of the audit and risk committee with effect from Mar 31, in line with the rule on a 9-year limit for independent directors. The 61-year-old has been on the board of MLT since 2013.
MLT's board of directors said it has reviewed Ching's qualifications and experience, and is of the view that he will be able to provide different perspectives and add "bench strength" to the board.
Units of MLT closed at S$1.77 on Tuesday (Mar 15), down 1.7 per cent or S$0.03.
