THE Bank of New York Mellon (BNY Mellon) has named Nelius De Groot, a former chief operating officer (COO) of transaction banking at Standard Chartered (StanChart), as the head of markets and execution services for Asia-Pacific (Apac), with effect from Tuesday (Oct 3).
Prior to joining BNY Mellon, De Groot held various senior leadership positions with StanChart, Deutsche Bank and other major global institutions in London, New York and Singapore.
With over 30 years of experience in capital markets and transaction banking, De Groot will lead the growth strategy and direction of the markets and execution services business for the region, said the bank.
“His impressive track record of building and expanding businesses, along with his focus on product and technology innovation and execution, will be instrumental as we continue to deliver market-leading solutions to clients across the region,” said Adam Vos, global head of markets and execution services at BNY Mellon.
John Emerson had succeeded De Groot as COO of transaction banking at StanChart in August.
His last role was chief operating officer of cash management at the bank.
