PROFESSIONAL services organisation EY has acquired Australian business consultancy company Blackdot, it said in a statement on Tuesday (Apr 12).

EY said the acquisition of the Sydney-based company will strengthen its customer transformation and growth capabilities, as well as strengthen its transformation leadership momentum.

Blackdot, which was founded in 2001, provides customer strategy, design and implementation services to clients and has teams covering Australia, the UK, Singapore and Canada.

Noting that EY and Blackdot have complementary capabilities, Blackdot's founder and chief executive Marty Nicholas expects the acquisition to allow them to "unlock more value faster for clients looking to transform how they go to market".

EY said the acquisition will assist EY teams in developing and implementing customer-centric growth strategies in areas including design, user experience, digitisation, omnichannel, go-to-market and commercialisation.

Post-acquisition, Nicholas will join the EY partnership in Australia and be based in Sydney, while Mark Taylor, managing director of Blackdot Europe, the Middle East and Africa, will join the EY partnership in the UK.

As for its employees, 64 Blackdot staff will join EY globally, of which a team will join EY's consulting services in Singapore.

On the addition to the Singapore team, EY Advisory's head of consulting Mok Juang-Wei said: "The addition of Blackdot's customer and growth expertise comes at a critical juncture where many businesses are institutionalising and evolving how they go to market after the pandemic."
