Fire at SingTel facility hits some services
A FIRE broke out at a SingTel facility in Bukit Panjang yesterday afternoon, sparking disruptions of services in some areas for Singapore's three telcos. Some services of two local banks were also affected.
The fire, which was put out after an hour at about 3pm yesterday, damaged 33 fibre cables at SingTel's Bukit Panjang exchange. As at press time, eight cables had been restored.
SingTel customers experienced disruptions to their fixed voice lines, broadband, and TV services in Woodlands, Bukit Panjang, Chua Chu Kang, Upper Bukit Timah and Mandai. Mobile services in parts of Woodlands, Marsiling and Kranji, as well as data lines for some corporate customers, were also affected.
