GENTING Singapore's share of VIP guest volume - which an analyst described as having swung from "supremacy to subordination" against rival Las Vegas Sands in Singapore's duopoly casino business - has claimed its latest (and most vulnerable) casualties: the casino staff.
The move by Genting Singapore's Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) to slash headcount - some 400 croupiers, supervisors and pit managers under a downsizing plan that began in May, as first reported by Today - underscores the pressure that the local casino business is facing as Chinese high rollers shy away from gaming tables on the back of Beijing's corruption crackdown.
