It says depressed valuations in Brazil present buying opportunities
GIC sees opportunities in Brazil's corporate sector, signalling its long-term commitment to the country and Latin America with the opening of its office in Sao Paulo this month.
Lim Chow Kiat, its group chief investment officer, said: "As a long-term investor, we focus more on long-term supply side fundamentals such as demographics and competitiveness."
He told The Business Times via e-mail from Sao Paulo, where he is now, that the sovereign wealth fund sees opportunities arising from two trends in the corporate sector in Brazil:
