    DESPITE the heightened volatility in commodity markets, John Chen – Standard Chartered Bank’s head of commodity sales for Asean and head of corporate sales for Singapore – sees opportunities for money to be made in the sector.

    That is, if players know and understand the entire industry and its risks. Part of his job now is to help the bank and its clients manage those risks.

    How did you end up here?

    With Standard Chartered, I’ve been in basically three different geographies – London, Qatar and Singapore – doing a variety of roles, from trading, structuring and sales, but always within financial markets.
