Hiap Seng Engineering employee killed in workshop accident

[SINGAPORE] An employee died in an accident at the workshop of construction firm Hiap Seng Engineering on Saturday (Aug 30), the company’s mainboard-listed parent announced in a bourse filing.
“The relevant authorities have been notified, and investigations into the incident are currently ongoing,” Hiap Seng Industries said in the filing, posted on Sunday, without providing further details of the incident.
The group expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and said that it “remains firmly committed to strengthening its safety culture, and will take all necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such (an) incident”.
“This incident serves as a solemn reminder of the critical importance of vigilance, discipline and accountability in maintaining a safe working environment,” it added.
Hiap Seng Industries shares closed at S$0.028 on Friday, up by 3.7 per cent or S$0.001.
