Home-grown healthcare group partners Siemens unit for S'pore medical tech centre
PRIVATE healthcare group MWH Medical has tied up with the medical division of German engineering giant Siemens to train regional health professionals in diagnostic advanced imaging tools.
The Siemens Healthineers Asia Reference Centre opened on Tuesday. It occupies about half the floor space of MWH Medical's 20,000 square foot facility at Royal Square at Novena in Irrawaddy Road.
Under the partnership, Siemens Healthineers will put up the machines and training resources for the centre, which will be used to introduce medical staff to new devices such as the 3T Magnetom Vida magnetic resonance imaging machine and Somatom Drive computed tomography scanner.
Stroke, cancer and heart disease are some of the fields of medicine that the centre will specialise in.
Michael Lim, medical director of MWH Medical, said in a media statement: "Being able to meet the healthcare needs in the region, through this partnership with Siemens Healthineers' state-of-the-art technology, will help to enhance the status of Singapore as a regional health centre for high-quality healthcare."
Home-grown MWH, which clinched a "multi-million dollar" injection in 2017 from private equity firm Quadria Capital, declined to disclose the size of its investment in the Asia Reference Centre.
