Hong Kong stocks post more big gains

    HONG Kong stocks ended with big gains on Thursday (Jul 13) as soft US inflation data boosted hopes for an end to the Federal Reserve’s rate-hiking cycle, while weak Chinese trade data boosted talk of fresh economic stimulus.

    The Hang Seng Index soared 2.60 per cent, or 489.67 points, to 19,350.62.

    The Shanghai Composite Index jumped 1.26 per cent, or 40.35 points, to 3,236.48, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China’s second exchange added 1.39 per cent, or 28.23 points, to 2,059.00. AFP
