HSBC Singapore has appointed Priya Kini as its head of commercial banking, with the appointment taking effect on Jan 1, 2024.

Kini, now the head of global banking in Singapore, will succeed Regina Lee, who has been appointed head of commercial banking at Hang Seng Bank, a member of HSBC Group.

Kini will be responsible for driving growth and furthering client relationships across the commercial banking business in Singapore. She will report to the chief executive of HSBC Singapore Wong Kee Joo, and to the bank’s head of commercial banking for South and South-east Asia, Amanda Murphy.

Since joining HSBC in 2001, Kini has held leadership positions in key markets such as Singapore, Hong Kong, the UK and India, said the bank on Thursday (Oct 12).

She has led coverage and financed solutions for the bank’s major public, corporate and institutional clients in her current role since February 2019.

Murphy said the appointment is highly valuable because the bank is exploring the opportunities to expand beyond Singapore and become the region’s leading bank for the new economy.

Wong added: “We are delighted to have Priya take on the new role, as her extensive global banking experience and strong track record in driving business growth will enable us to further accelerate our strategy, which is built on Singapore as the springboard to South-east Asia and beyond.”
