HSBC Asset Management (HSBC AM) on Friday (Nov 10) said it has appointed Lim Pang Qi as chief executive officer (CEO) of South-east Asia and Singapore, and head of strategic partnerships for South-east Asia, effective Nov 14.

Patrice Conxicoeur, the previous CEO and head of South-east Asia, will pursue new opportunities outside of HSBC, the asset manager said.

Based in Singapore, Lim will be in charge of leading HSBC AM’s strategic growth ambitions in Singapore and South-east Asia. He will also focus on the sales and distribution strategy for these markets.

He will report to Daisy Ho, HSBC AM’s CEO for the Asia-Pacific and Hong Kong, and Ashmita Acharya, HSBC Singapore’s head of wealth and personal banking.

Lim comes from Fidelity International, where he led business development for the investment manager’s client solutions and services business in the Asia-Pacific.

He spent his first decade with Fidelity in senior distribution roles, supporting the firm’s intermediary business with key Singapore financial institutions. He also helped start distribution markets in Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia, HSBC AM noted.

He had stints at Standard Chartered and Fortis Private Bank before Fidelity.

HSBC AM is the investment management business of HSBC Group.
