Indonesian bonds an opportunity amid rout: BOAML

Asian currencies could depreciate 5-9% in the next 12 months

AS investors pull out of emerging Asia, opportunities arise in assets like Indonesian 10-year government bonds, currently trading at more than a 600 basis point (6 percentage points) spread to US 10-year bonds.

However, Asian currencies could depreciate 5 to 9 per cent in the next 12 months, said Claudio Piron, Bank of America Merrill Lynch's (BOAML) co-head of Asia FX and rates strategy, at a media briefing on Wednesday.
